Cecelia Paine is a College Professor Emeritus and Associated Graduate Faculty of Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph, where she taught community design and public realm professional practice for decades. Her research interests focus on heritage landscape conservation and the interpretation of history within contemporary landscape design. Prior to joining the faculty at Guelph, Cecelia practiced at a firm in Ottawa, specializing in urban design, parks, open space planning, and heritage landscape conservation. She is a recipient of numerous professional design awards and has presented at conferences both nationally and internationally. Active in professional organizations, she served as president of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA) and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA), and is the founding editor of Landscapes Paysages, the official journal of the CSLA. Cecelia currently serves on the board of the Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation and as a member of the National Capital Commission’s Advisory Committee on Planning, Design, and Real Estate. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and gardening on her rural property near Kenilworth, Ontario.
