Biography

Cécile Hébert is a prominent physicist specializing in the field of electron microscopy. Originally from France, she obtained her engineering degree in physics and a PhD focused on the design of new energy filter transmission electron microscopy from École Centrale Paris, under the guidance of Prof. B. Jouffrey. Following her doctoral studies, she conducted postdoctoral research with Prof. P. Schattschneider, concentrating on calculations of fine structure ionization edges in electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). Her professional experience includes being a research assistant at Vienna University of Technology and a significant contributor to the CHIRALTEM project, which investigates magnetic circular dichroism in electron microscopy. Cécile has co-authored several publications in leading scientific journals, addressing topics such as energy-loss magnetic chiral dichroism (EMCD) and the characterization of nano-materials. As an educator, she teaches advanced courses in physics, particularly focusing on thermodynamics and electron matter interactions, and has supervised numerous PhD students at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
