Biography

Cecile King is an Associate Professor at the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of New South Wales Sydney, having joined the faculty in 2021. She obtained her Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Western Australia and completed her postdoctoral training at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, USA. Prior to her current role, she was a faculty member at the Garvan Institute for Medical Research in Sydney from 2005. King's research is centered on the immune system's ability to differentiate between self and non-self, particularly focusing on how retrotransposons and non-coding RNA influence immune responses. Her current projects include the role of retrotransposons in regulating immune responses and investigating RNA sensing in health and disease, particularly in the context of autoimmune conditions. King's work aims to unravel the complexities of adaptive immune responses, enhancing our understanding of the mechanisms that lead to autoimmunity and potential therapeutic approaches for related conditions.
