Dr. Cecilia Cotton

Biography

Cecilia Cotton is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies at the University of Waterloo in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science. Her research interests primarily focus on the application of longitudinal data to address challenges in public health. She investigates inference techniques for comparing survival rates across multiple dynamic treatment regimens, utilizing observational longitudinal data. Her work includes exploring dosing strategies for epoetin in patients undergoing hemodialysis due to chronic kidney disease. Cotton is also involved in joint modeling of longitudinal and survival data, particularly in the context of causal inference. Over the years, she has contributed to numerous academic publications in her field, which include studies on mortality rates in pediatric cancer, particularly Wilms tumor, and methodological advancements in causal inference techniques within nonrandomized studies. Through her work, she aims to enhance understanding and improve outcomes in health-related research using statistical methodologies.
