Biography

Cecilie Adler Armand is a PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in insolvency law. Her research focuses on the recent proposals from the European Commission for new directive rules that aim to ensure member states' insolvency legislation includes rules on avoidance actions. This legal instrument ensures that creditor satisfaction is maintained in accordance with bankruptcy regulations, even retroactively. Avoidance actions also seek to recover assets that have been completely withdrawn from the creditors' community back into the insolvent estate. Denmark already has detailed regulations aimed at protecting creditors in connection with detrimental transactions. Nonetheless, a key question in her research project is whether Danish law should retain its current form when the directive proposal eventually becomes a reality.
