Biography

Cecilie Thøgersen-Ntoumani is a Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, focusing on Psychology, Physical Activity, and Health. She obtained her PhD from the University of Bristol in 2003 and has held various academic positions including Research Fellow, Lecturer, and Senior Lecturer at several higher education institutions in the UK, notably at the University of Birmingham for eight years. Since July 2021, she has been a Professor at the University of Southern Denmark. Her research explores interrelated themes such as physical activity, behavior change, life contexts, and the well-being benefits of engaging in physical activity. Her work examines the synergistic roles of the physical environment and motivation in predicting physical activity, alongside the impact of body image and health behaviors on weight management. A multidisciplinary researcher, she collaborates with a large network of global researchers, attracting funding from major bodies including the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Australian Research Council, among others.
