Celine Tan is a Professor of International Economic Law and Co-Director of the Centre for Law, Regulation and Governance of the Global Economy (GLOBE) at the University of Warwick. Her research centers on aspects of international economic law and regulation with a focus on international development financing, law, policy, and governance. Celine is particularly interested in the intersections of law, development, gender, human rights, and environmental issues. She has published extensively on the governance of international financial architecture, sovereign debt, climate change, sustainable development, and the role of international financial institutions in upholding human rights. Celine has worked with various international organizations and non-governmental organizations across Europe, Africa, and Asia on issues related to social and economic development and human rights. She is a founding member of the IEL Collective, a community of scholars and practitioners dedicated to critical reflection on the interactions between law and the global economy. Currently, she is leading the Climate Finance for Equitable Transitions (CLiFT) project and is the Principal Investigator of a British Academy-funded project evaluating the Energy Transition Partnerships (JETPs). Furthermore, Celine serves on the editorial board of Social Legal Studies and co-chairs the Academic Circle on the Right to Development.
