Dr. Cemil Firtin

Biography

Cemil Eren Firtin is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg specializing in public administration. He received his PhD in public administration from the same institution in September 2022. Firtin serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Scandinavian Journal of Public Administration. His research interests encompass several critical areas, including accounting, financial management control, professionalism, risk crisis management, digitalization, and social sustainability. He focuses on teaching subjects such as management accounting, financial control, public auditing, and supervision of bachelor and master theses. Firtin has contributed significantly to academic literature, having published various papers and theses on topics related to accounting and public administration. His work examines how accounting practices influence public services and social care amidst challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, with publications addressing issues of performativity and emotional accountability in public sectors. He also participates in various academic conferences and workshops, presenting insights on the intersections of accounting, public management, and social accountability.
