Biography

Dr. Cengiz Burak received his medical degree in 2010 from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Turkey and subsequently completed his cardiology residency at Turkiye Yuksek İhtisas Education Research Hospital in 2015. As a practicing cardiologist, he developed an interest in arrhythmias and cardiac devices, completing six months of focused training in this area. Dr. Burak pursued further specialization by completing a two-year Adult Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship from 2022 to 2023, followed by an additional year as a senior fellow at Queen’s University in 2024. He successfully completed the Royal College-accredited Area Focused Competence and became a diplomate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In December 2024, Dr. Burak was appointed to the Division of Cardiology at Queen’s University and currently serves as an electrophysiologist at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. His clinical interests include catheter ablation strategies for managing complex cardiac arrhythmias, with an emphasis on zero-fluoroscopy techniques. His expertise also extends to the optimization and implantation of cardiac devices, cardiac resynchronization therapy, and conduction system pacing. Dr. Burak has a strong research background, having published 40 peer-reviewed publications with substantial citations. Alongside his clinical research responsibilities, he is deeply dedicated to medical education, actively engaging in postgraduate and undergraduate training, teaching, mentorship, and research.
