Cesar L. Moreno received his PhD in Neuroscience from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2015. He completed joint postdoctoral training at the Gandy Lab and New York Stem Cell Foundation from 2015 to 2017. Subsequently, Moreno joined the UQ-StemCARE Centre at the University of Queensland, where he worked until 2020. In 2020, he joined the University of Sydney as a John Anne Chong Genome Editing Stem Cell Research Fellow. His primary research focus is on the development of functional genomic tools and CRISPR technology, conducting functional studies using stem cells and mouse models to deepen the understanding of various diseases. His research includes developing new tools for genetic screens in stem cells and utilizing functional genomic and epigenomic approaches to explore diseases such as COVID-19 and biological processes related to aging and neural development. Moreno is also involved in multiple research projects including CRISPR-Whole Genome screens to gain insights into SARS-CoV-2 pathology and the role of Circadian Rhythms in human brain development.
