Biography

Cesare Pautasso is a full professor at the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Lugano, Switzerland. He earned his PhD in 2004 and has an extensive background in research, having previously worked at the IBM Zurich Research Lab and served as a senior researcher at ETH Zurich. His research focuses on building experimental systems that explore the intersection of model-driven software composition techniques and business process modeling languages, with interests in autonomic and grid computing. Pautasso has developed a keen interest in Web 2.0 mashups and architectural decision modeling and is the lead architect of JOpera, a powerful rapid service composition tool for Eclipse. His teaching and training activities in both academia and industry cover advanced topics related to web development, middleware, and service-oriented architectures, including emerging web services technologies. He is an active member of ACM and the IEEE Computer Society, having served on over 100 program committees and as general chair for the 9th European Conference on Web Services (ECOWS) held at USI in 2011.
