Biography

Chad Mashuga is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University, awarded in 1999, and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the same institution achieved in 1994. His expertise includes dust explosions mitigation, flammability, fires, energetic materials, calorimetry, instrumentation development, and nanoparticle safety. Prior to his current role, Dr. Mashuga has accumulated valuable industry experience working as a Subject Matter Expert for Dow Chemical Company, focusing on flammability explosions, from 2006 to 2014. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at Wayne State University from 2001 to 2006. Furthermore, he led a research group at BASF Corporation specializing in chemical process safety from 1999 to 2006. Throughout his academic and professional career, he has received several awards, including the Dow Chemical Tech Center Award for Catalyst Optimization in 2014 and for Explosion Investigation & Risk Reduction in 2012, as well as the William H. Doye Award in 2000 for his paper presentation at the AIChE Loss Prevention Symposium.
