Biography

Chad Whitzel is a second-year PhD student in the School of Human Ecology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research interests lie at the intersection of public regulatory policy and household financial decision-making, focusing on how information sources, education, and social behavior influence the interpretation of laws, regulations, and financial information. Additionally, he explores behavioral economics and its impact on decision-making related to mental health issues, particularly Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). As a financial planner, he utilizes his professional skills to inform his research while actively working with clients. Prior to entering the field of financial planning, he gained experience through auditing and tax accounting. Chad also serves as a teaching assistant for the Personal Finance major and dedicates time to financial-related organizations such as the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education and the CFP Board.
