Biography

Chaitanya Swamy is a Professor and University Research Chair in the Department of Combinatorics & Optimization at the University of Waterloo. He joined the department in September 2006 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for the Mathematics of Information at Caltech. He earned his Ph.D. in 2004 from Cornell University with a focus on Algorithms, supervised by David Shmoys. He has supervised several postdoctoral researchers and graduate students, many of whom have moved on to successful careers in academia and industry. Swamy's dedication to research and education has established him as a leading figure in the field of mathematics and optimization.
