Biography

Chamil Abeykoon is a Senior Lecturer in Materials Engineering at the University of Manchester. He received his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2007, and completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Queen's University Belfast, UK, in 2011. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has received multiple accolades, including the Young Author Paper Award from IEEE in 2011. His current research interests include process monitoring, modeling, control, soft sensors, and 3D printing technologies, among others. He is actively involved in supervising PhD students and has secured funding from local and international companies for his research. Chamil is a Chartered Engineer and an Associate Member of several professional bodies such as the IESL and IMechE. He also serves as an Associate Editor for multiple scientific journals and has delivered keynote speeches at various international conferences.
