Chance Huiet is currently an Assistant Professor of Euphonium and Tuba at Michigan State University College of Music. Prior to his current role, he served as the Principal Tuba with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and held a similar position with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic from 2016 to 2024. He has performed with prestigious orchestras including those in Cleveland, Melbourne, Utah, Detroit, Kansas City, and internationally in Malaysia. As a soloist, Huiet has showcased his talents at various recitals across the country and was a guest artist at the 2018 International Tuba Euphonium Conference at the University of Iowa. Notably, he performed the John Williams Tuba Concerto with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic in February 2022 and is scheduled to premiere Michael Daugherty’s 'Reflections on the Mississippi' with the Michigan State University Wind Symphony in October 2025. Outside of his musical career, Huiet has a passion for birdwatching and has documented his experiences of observing native birds. He released a self-produced album of original folk songs titled 'For Birds' in January 2021, which is available on Spotify. Huiet is thankful for the influences of his primary teachers, including Orcenith Smith, Jacob Cameron, and Philip Sinder.
