Dr. Chandra Sripada

Biography

Chandra Sripada is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Michigan, where he holds a joint appointment in the Department of Psychiatry. His research primarily focuses on ethics, moral psychology, agency, self-control, and their intersections with empirical disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, and psychiatry. His recent work has explored topics like self-regulation and intentional action, as well as the nature of free will and norms. Sripada's impactful publications have appeared in prominent philosophical journals like Philosophical Psychology and Nous, as well as in leading scientific publications such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Psychological Science. He obtained his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Rutgers University and holds an M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School, Houston.
