Biography

Chandrakant Tayade is a Professor in the School of Medicine at Queen's University. His research focuses on the interlinking of mucosal, innate, and adaptive immune responses to provide improved understanding of the pathophysiology of endometriosis. Dr. Tayade's long-term goal is to explore the therapeutic manipulation of uterine immune cells in the context of angiogenesis, pregnancy, and the pathological conditions associated with endometriosis. He is particularly interested in defining the association between immune mechanisms and neoangiogenesis in the survival of endometriotic lesions. His laboratory is currently investigating specific mechanisms that support blood vessel growth in endometriosis and the potential of anti-angiogenic therapies to target these processes safely. Dr. Tayade has received the J. Christian Herr Award from the American Society for Reproductive Immunology for his outstanding research contributions. His research is bolstered by funding from multiple prestigious sources, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. Dr. Tayade also employs a combination of molecular biology approaches, patient-based studies, and immunodeficient mouse models to advance his research.
