Dr. Chandramouli Chandrasekaran

Biography

Chandramouli Chandrasekaran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Boston University. He received his PhD and MA from Princeton University, and has also completed a Master's at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and a Bachelor's from the University of Madras. His research focuses on identifying neural dynamical systems that mediate decision-making and goal-directed behavior based on uni- and multi-sensory inputs. For instance, he studies neural mechanisms that allow individuals to stop or go based on visual cues such as traffic lights. He has experience working with students and researchers at various prestigious institutions, such as the Max Planck Research School in Germany. Throughout his career, he has received several awards, including the Jack Spivack Excellence in Neuroscience Award and the Moorman-Simon Interdisciplinary Career Development Professorship. His current research projects include investigating the dynamics of prefrontal and premotor circuits underlying perceptual decision-making, as well as the integration of sensory, reward, and motor information within the macaque brain.
