Dr. Chandramouli Krishnan

Biography

Chandramouli Krishnan is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan, where he also holds positions in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Physical Therapy. His research interests focus on muscle weakness, activation failure, neuromotor impairments, and rehabilitation interventions. He is particularly interested in the areas of gait analysis, co-contraction, and electromyography (EMG) techniques. Dr. Krishnan's work involves simulation and modeling as well as force control variability. He has conducted significant research on gender differences in motor control and has innovative applications in rehabilitation robotics, including the Lokomat system. His expertise extends to noninvasive brain stimulation techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and he is engaged in research related to stroke recovery and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and surgery, as well as total knee replacement outcomes.
