Biography

Professor Changhuei Yang conducts integrated research in optics and computation aimed at resolving biomedical challenges. His work spans computational microscopy, wavefront shaping, artificial intelligence-assisted pathology analysis, and transcranial sensing. He has been a significant force in advancing the field of biophotonics, with a focus on live embryo imaging. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997 and 2002, respectively, and completed his Ph.D. in Engineering in 2001. Prior to his current position as a professor, he served as an Assistant Professor from 2003 to 2009, then as an Associate Professor from 2009 to 2010, and was promoted to Professor in 2010. In 2016, he assumed the position of Thomas G. Myers Professor. Yang also serves as an Investigator at the Heritage Medical Research Institute and has been the Executive Officer for Electrical Engineering since 2024.
