Biography

Professor Changhuei Yang is a Thomas G. Myers Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. He holds dual bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master's degree in Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Engineering. His academic career includes positions as Assistant Professor from 2003 to 2009, Associate Professor from 2009 to 2010, and Professor since 2010. He was appointed Myers Professor in 2016 and has served as an Investigator at the Heritage Medical Research Institute since 2021 and as Executive Officer of Electrical Engineering starting in 2024. His research interests focus on integrating optics and computation to address biomedical challenges, including biophotonics, microscopy, wavefront shaping, AI-assisted pathology analysis, and transcranial sensing. He is actively involved in developing computational microscopy techniques and innovative imaging methods for live embryo imaging.
