Biography

Chantal Lavergne is a researcher at the Université de Montréal, affiliated with the Institute of Youth in Difficulty since 2001. She is actively engaged in research concerning the disproportion of children in youth protection and the intercultural aspects of interventions in protection and prevention implemented for families. Lavergne has co-developed an intervention aimed at promoting the parental role of immigrants and preventing violence against children. Currently, she is a co-researcher in a study evaluating the implementation of this initiative in community organizations. Her research interests also focus on the links between child victimization, domestic violence, and associated parental issues, showcasing her expertise in addressing the complex needs of these families. Over the years, she has been involved in the development and evaluation of several inter-professional collaboration initiatives and interventions with parents facing these challenges. Lavergne values partnerships between research and intervention, emphasizing knowledge transfer in her work.
