Biography

Chaoyue Zhao joined the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at the University of Washington as an associate professor in fall 2019 after serving as the Jim & Lynn Williams Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Florida in 2014. His research focuses on data-driven optimization methodologies to support strategic operational planning in power systems management. He has developed innovative data-driven approaches that enable effective decision-making under uncertainty in power system scheduling problems, including optimal power flow and unit commitment. Chaoyue Zhao has received multiple grants from federal agencies such as the National Science Foundation and the Department of Transportation, and has been honored with several awards, including the Pritsker Doctoral Dissertation Award and the IISE Energy Systems Division Outstanding Young Investigator Award.
