Biography

Charlaine Bouchard is a notary and full professor of corporate law at the Faculty of Law of Laval University since 1998. She holds a doctorate in law from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne (1996) and a post-doctorate from Laval University (1997). Specialized in corporate law, electronic commerce, and blockchain technology, Professor Bouchard is the author of over a hundred scientific and professional articles and 9 books. In 2003, she co-founded the first research center at the Faculty of Law focused on economic law and established an online scientific blog that has become a reference in Quebec business law. She has actively participated in various organizations and served on multiple committees and boards, including the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute (2015-2018) and the Quebec Notaries Chamber (2000-2015). Currently, she is a member of the scientific committee of the Notarial Review and holds a research chair on smart contracts and blockchain technology since 2020. Her research activities mainly focus on blockchain technology and smart contracts, and she has developed initiatives to raise public awareness about these technologies. Professor Bouchard teaches various courses at the undergraduate and master's levels, preparing students for challenges in law.
