Biography

Charlene Wong specializes in adolescent and young adult medicine and health services research. As a primary care physician, she provides specialized care for young people ages 12-26, addressing reproductive health concerns, chronic illnesses, behavioral challenges, and developmental difficulties. Her focus is on delivering high-quality medical care to youth with respect for their individual needs while supporting their physical and emotional growth and empowering them to become thriving, independent adults. Wong is the Executive Director of the North Carolina Integrated Care for Kids (NC InCK) model, a CMS-funded pilot that develops and implements local integrated service delivery and payment models for Medicaid/CHIP insured children. With her research portfolio, she seeks to inform healthcare transformation and health-related behavior changes by leveraging behavioral economics principles. She directs health behaviors research at the Duke Children's Health & Discovery Initiative and serves as the Associate Program Director for the National Clinical Scholars Program at Duke. Wong is also a faculty member of the Duke Center for Childhood Obesity Research.
