Charles E. Alpers, MD is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He serves as the Interim Chair of the Department and has been a key figure in the Renal Pathology Service, which is one of the largest referral centers for renal biopsy diagnoses in the Northwest. His research focuses on the role of growth factor molecules in kidney diseases and mechanisms underlying diabetic renal injuries.
