Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Charles Burson Thomas. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Charles worked as a graduate engineer and high-school physics teacher before undertaking his PhD at the University of Southampton. His PhD research, as a member of the tribology research group (nCATS), investigated dynamic loading caused by high-speed water droplet impingement on aeroengine fan blades. Charles enjoys applying the skills he developed during his PhD while also learning new ones as a Research Fellow on the APRICOT project, an international, multi-million Euro initiative aiming to develop a radically new type of implant treatment for small joint arthritis that is minimally invasive and bone conserving for suitable patients of all ages. He led the modeling of the implant in vivo, utilizing statistical shape analysis to characterize patient joint geometry variability. Charles is a member of the Bioengineering Science Research Group.
