Biography

Charles Capaldi has thirty-five years of experience in design, project management, and construction, with a deep belief in the continuity of practice and the importance of client dialogue. He emphasizes exploration and the ongoing integration of design with thoughtful construction execution. Previously serving as the Director of Design at GBQC, he has a strong interest in construction and technical development, as well as a respect for craftsmanship and collaboration in achieving good design outcomes. In addition to working on residential and multi-family projects, Charles has led workplace projects that reflect and encourage cultures and behaviors that enhance communication and interaction. As a founding partner of B Five Studio, he has overseen projects for entities such as the University City Science Center and the National Board of Medical Examiners Headquarters. His work with the firm CaVA Architects focuses on collaborative design projects that enhance interaction in the digital economy and creative workplaces, including renovations and original work for the National Board of Medical Examiners and Philadelphia Media Network’s offices. Charles holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He is a LEED accredited professional and is credentialed by the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards, leading workshops and serving as an IDP Coordinator and Mentor at Penn. He also volunteers at GESU School, where he leads architecture classes and contributes his expertise to the upkeep of Historic Old Saint Joseph’s Church.
