Dr. Charles Dike

Biography

Charles C Dike is a Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine and serves as the Deputy Chair for State Affairs. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Connecticut Mental Health Center and has held notable positions including Chief Medical Officer at the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Dike completed his medical education at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria and underwent psychiatric residency at the University of Birmingham in England. He also completed further training at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a fellowship in Law Psychiatry at Yale. Dike has been recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists of England. He has contributed to the field through various leadership roles within professional organizations and has focused on issues surrounding psychiatric ethics, health systems administration, and forensic psychiatry. Dike has received multiple awards, highlighting his commitment to diversity and inclusion in forensic psychiatric practice, including the Chester Pierce, MD, Human Rights Award from the APA. His research interests include psychiatric ethics, management of aggression, and forensic consultations in both civil and criminal contexts.
