Biography

Charles Foster is a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales in the School of Biomedical Sciences. He completed a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) at the University of Sydney, where he received the University Medal for his first-class honours research on the evolution of Australian flora. His PhD research was centered on bioinformatics, with a specific focus on using phylogenomics to understand the evolution of flowering plants. His responsibilities include routine genomic sequencing of viral samples from positive COVID-19 cases and addressing urgent cases flagged by NSW Health.
