Biography

Charles Kirkby is an Adjunct Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, in the Department of Oncology. He serves as a Senior Medical Physicist at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta, and has held significant leadership roles, including Director of Professional Affairs for the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists. He is also engaged in innovative applications of radiation, including nanoparticle-aided radiation therapy, as well as Monte Carlo simulations and the influence of magnetic fields on radiation dosimetry, radiobiology, and clinical problems regarding radiation therapy. His work contributes significantly to the optimization of radiation therapy plans, especially in low-density media scenarios.
