Charles W McMonnies graduated from the University of New South Wales with a BSc in 1966, an MSc in 1970, and a DSc in 2015. He has a long history in optometric practice in Sydney, spanning from 1966 to 2007, and has developed special interests in contact lenses, dry eye syndromes, and children’s vision. Mr. McMonnies is a member of the Council of the International Society of Contact Lens Research, a past-president and Fellow of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia, and a life member of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of New Zealand. He has served on the Board of Management for the Optometric Vision Research Foundation and is a Board member of the Brien Holden Vision Institute. Throughout his career, he lectured, tutored, and supervised clinical studies for Bachelor and Master of Optometry degrees at the School of Optometry and Vision Science from 1969 to 2000, and he currently holds the position of Honorary Professor. He has authored multiple books, six textbook chapters, and over 150 scientific and clinical papers. His current research interests encompass keratoconus, ocular surface disease, myopia control, and glaucoma.
