Charles Menzies is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. His primary research interests include the production of anthropological films, natural resource management, particularly related to fisheries, and the political economy of contemporary Indigenous issues. He has conducted extensive field research in British Columbia, Canada, and has produced films in various locations, including Brittany, France, and Donegal, Ireland. Menzies is a member of the Gitxaała Nation on the north coast of British Columbia and is enrolled in the Tlingit Haida Tribes in Alaska. Menzies is also the Director of the Ethnographic Film Unit at UBC and coordinates the ecological anthropology research group.
