Biography

Charles Silver holds the Roy W. Eugenia C. McDonald Endowed Chair in Civil Procedure at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He teaches courses on civil procedure, health law, and professional responsibility. His current research focuses on aggregate lawsuits, including class actions and multi-district litigation, attorneys’ fees, and professional responsibility in civil litigation. Over the past decade, he has worked with a group of empirical researchers studying medical malpractice litigation in Texas. Silver served as the Associate Reporter for the Principles of Aggregate Litigation Project at the American Law Institute, which was published in 2010. He has authored several publications and recent books, including "Overcharged: Americans Pay Health Care" and "Medical Malpractice Litigation: Works—Why Tort Reform Hasn’t Helped."
