Biography

Charlie Obimbo received his PhD from the University of New Brunswick in 2000. He has held positions as an Assistant Professor at the University of New Brunswick and the University of Prince Edward Island. In 2007, Obimbo joined the School of Computer Science at the University of Guelph, where he currently serves as a Professor. His research primarily focuses on computer systems security, specifically in developing intrusion detection and prevention systems. His key research areas include Network Security and using AI classification methods such as Support Vector Machines and Deep Learning to classify network payloads, as well as Encryption and Cryptanalysis, motivated by the pervasive use of mobile devices and the constant challenges posed by hackers.
