Dr. Charlotte Häger

Biography

Charlotte Häger is a Professor in Physiotherapy at Umeå University, specializing in human motor control and the brain's involvement in assessing movements affected by injury and disease. Her research focuses on the efficiency of sensory motor systems in controlling muscles, particularly in the context of normal motor development in children and movement control in healthy individuals. Häger works on understanding the mechanisms of pain and movement issues prevalent in conditions like cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, and other movement disorders. Her methodology includes kinematic movement analysis and electromyographic activity recordings. She leads a multidisciplinary research group comprising biomedical engineers, statisticians, and therapists. Her ongoing projects involve collaboration with several international institutions. Throughout her career, she has held various academic roles and has actively contributed to committees in the Swedish Research Council, contributing her expertise to enhance health and medical education.
