Biography

Professor Charlotte Manisty is the Head of Clinical Cardiovascular Science at the Institute of Cardiovascular Science at University College London (UCL) and serves as a Consultant Cardiologist leading the Cardio-Oncology service at Barts Heart Centre. Her research focuses on improving the screening of cardiac problems in cancer patients and developing automated techniques for analyzing cardiac structure and function to enhance the early detection of cardiac abnormalities. Manisty has co-authored national recommendations for MRI imaging in patients with implantable cardiac devices and leads a multi-societal working group addressing service provision for this patient group. She is currently involved in research optimizing scar localization in patients with ventricular arrhythmias and has been a senior author on studies investigating the long-term cardiac effects of anthracycline chemotherapy in breast cancer patients. Her work includes designing a custom database for cardio-oncology to facilitate systematic data collection and recruitment for future studies, as well as serving on boards and committees focused on cardiac imaging and safety. With numerous publications and leadership roles in significant clinical trials, she is a key figure in advancing knowledge and practice in the intersection of cardiology and oncology.
