Biography

Charlotte moved to Glasgow in 2011 and was appointed Senior Lecturer in 2013. She became a Professor of Church History in 2017, having come from the University of Oxford where she worked from 2005 to 2010, following her tenure at Ripon College Cuddesdon from 2009 to 2011. She also holds an Adjunct Research Professorship at the University of Bern and is a regular visiting lecturer at the University of Bonn. Charlotte co-edits the 'Studies in Church History' with Professor Andrew Spicer from Oxford Brookes University. She is actively involved with the Society for Reformation Studies and organizes an annual conference on Reformation history and theology from a European perspective. Previously, she taught Church History at the Faculty of Protestant Theology at the University of Bochum, Germany and the Theological Faculty of the University of Hamburg. Charlotte has also been a Visiting Professor at the University of Mainz and has taught at various universities in Germany and South Africa. Her research interests focus on illuminating the current challenges faced by churches, and she serves in several commissions related to Anglican unity and faith.
