Charlotte moved to Glasgow in 2011 and was appointed Senior Lecturer in 2013. She became a Professor of Church History in 2017, having come from the University of Oxford where she worked from 2005 to 2010, following her tenure at Ripon College Cuddesdon from 2009 to 2011. She also holds an Adjunct Research Professorship at the University of Bern and is a regular visiting lecturer at the University of Bonn.
