Dr. Chava Danielson

Biography

Chava Danielson is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California's School of Architecture and the Principal at DSH // architecture. With a B.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, she focuses on the intersection of architectural design and advocacy for nonprofit organizations. Danielson's work aims to transform underserved neighborhoods through educational and therapeutic residential projects. She leads DSH's civic child-centered initiatives, emphasizing early education centers that encourage curiosity and wonder in young children, departing from conventional practices. In addition to her role at USC, she has taught design studios and urban history at the Otis College of Art + Design and served as a founding board member of the Larchmont Charter School, as well as on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design. Her projects have contributed to significant urban revitalization, including the inventive adaptive reuse of the historic New York Life Insurance headquarters.
