Biography

Dr. Chaya Malone received his medical training at the Godfrey Huggins School of Medicine in Zimbabwe and completed his Anesthesiology training at the University of Natal in Durban, South Africa. He joined the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon in 2002. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Malone held the position of Junior Consultant in Pediatric Anesthesiology at King Edward Hospital in Durban, South Africa. He has also practiced as a Consultant anesthesiologist for five years in a private practice setting. Dr. Malone obtained a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Regina and is a certified Canadian Patient Safety Officer. His clinical interests lie in Regional Anesthesia, Obstetrical Anesthesia, and Pediatric Anesthesiology, while his research primarily focuses on Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. His selected publications include work on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on anesthesia residency education.
