Biography

Chee Wei Ang joined Monash University Malaysia as a research fellow in August 2020, after completing his PhD at the University of Queensland focusing on the development of new anti-infective agents for tuberculosis and parasitic infections. With over five years of experience as a research officer at the Institute for Molecular Medicine at Universiti Sains Malaysia, he has worked extensively on drug modification and bioconjugation, highlighting his commitment to finding new therapeutics to address unmet medical needs in infectious diseases. Ang is currently focused on small molecule synthesis while exploring natural products and metal-based bioactive compounds. His research interests encompass medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, organic synthesis, and infectious diseases, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals to promote health and well-being.
