Biography

Chen Feng received B.Eng. degree from the Department of Electronic and Communications Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in 2006, and M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, Canada, in 2009 and 2014, respectively. From 2014 to 2015, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Boston University, USA, and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. He joined the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Kelowna, Canada, in July 2015, where he is currently an Associate Professor and Principal’s Research Chair in Blockchain. His research interests include adapting new ideas and tools from information theory and coding theory to design and optimize communication networks, with a particular emphasis on blockchain technology. He is also the co-cluster lead for Blockchain@UBC, focusing on the use of blockchain in various applications and exploring its potential innovations in technology and communication.
