Biography

Dr. Chen Liu is an expert in viral hepatitis and liver cancer immunotherapy, specializing in graft-versus-host disease and cancer epigenetics. He currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine and is the Chief of Pathology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He holds the position of Anthony N. Brady Professor of Pathology. Dr. Liu obtained his medical degree from Tong Liao Medical College and completed his postgraduate training at Peking Union Medical College in China. He earned a PhD in pathology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. His residency in anatomical and clinical pathology was completed at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in oncological pathology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. Dr. Liu's research focuses on understanding how the immune system can be harnessed to treat liver cancer and exploring the genetic changes associated with cancer development. He is also involved in researching graft-versus-host disease, which can occur following bone marrow transplants.
