Dr. Chen Shaoxiang

Biography

Chen Shaoxiang is a Professor in the College of Business at Nanyang University of Technology (Nanyang Business School) in Singapore. He holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Nanjing University in China and an MBA as well as a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. He has been affiliated with NTU since 1995 and specializes in Operations Management, Supply Chain Logistics Management, and Operations Research. Over the past 20 years, his research has focused on developing a new set of economic theories and principles within the framework of the 'Network Economy,' which contrasts with the traditional 'Pointwise Economy' model in the context of the Internet. Dr. Chen has published extensively in leading academic journals such as Operations Research, Management Science, and Production Operations Management. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, including 'Network Economy Supply Chain Management,' and has been involved in various executive training programs for government officials. In addition, he has served as a member of the Academic Board of the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration since 2014, and has been on the Advisory Committee for the Institute of Internet Industry at Tsinghua University in China. He has also held positions such as director of education at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Singapore and director of the Executive Development Programme at Nanyang Business School.
