Biography

Chengjuan Qu, originating from Tianjin, China, graduated as a medical doctor specialized in radiology from Tianjin Medical University in 1990. She worked as a radiologist in China from 1990 to 1998 before moving to Kuopio, Finland. After taking maternity leaves, Dr. Qu completed her doctoral thesis at the University of Kuopio in 2007, focusing on articular cartilage biosynthesis and the effects of sulfation and glucosamine sulfate. Following her graduation, she continued her research at the University of Kuopio with an emphasis on cartilage tissue engineering and the cell biology of mesenchymal and pluripotent stem cells. In November 2015, she began her role at the Department of Integrative Medical Biology at Umeå University and transitioned in February 2019 to the Department of Odontology, specifically within the School of Dentistry, Molecular Periodontology.
