Dr. Chengzhi Shi

Biography

Chengzhi Shi is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Michigan. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and has a master's and bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan - Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute. His research interests include the fields of physical acoustics, wave propagation, structural acoustics, underwater acoustics, metamaterials, and biomedical ultrasound imaging. Professor Shi focuses on understanding wave physics, particularly vortex acoustic waves and their applications in underwater communications and therapeutic therapies for diseases. He is also involved in developing new ultrasound imaging techniques for cellular imaging and medical diagnostics. His work features innovative experimental platforms for studies in condensed matter and quantum physics.
