Biography

Chenhao Ye is a Fellow in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He obtained his BA in Journalism from Zhejiang University in China and completed his MA in Global Media Communication with distinction at the University of Warwick, UK. He finished his PhD in December 2024, focusing on critical political economy communication traditions and the financialization of China's digital news industry within the historical context of China's post-socialist transformations. His doctoral research investigates the evolving nexus between state power and financialization in the Chinese media system. Dr. Ye's expertise spans political economy communication, media policy governance, and the media industries in China, with a particular focus on theorizing the influence of global finance on local communication practices. In addition to his research, he convenes courses such as Global Media Industries and contributes to team-taught postgraduate media communication courses. He has published book reviews in notable journals and is actively engaged in advancing intellectual debates on the role of state and finance capital in reconfiguring media and communication industries.
