Dr. Chenhui Shao

Biography

Chenhui Shao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2016 and holds a Master of Arts in Statistics and a Master of Science in Industrial Operations Engineering from the same institution, completed in 2013. He also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Automation from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2009. His research interests encompass Smart Manufacturing, Machine Learning, Statistics, Big Data Analytics, In-Situ Process Monitoring Real-Time Control, Materials Joining, Manufacturing Systems Control Automation, Quality Control, Robotic Additive Manufacturing, 3D Metrology, Cyber-Physical Infrastructure, and Human-Robot Collaboration. Shao has received multiple honors, including the NSF CAREER Award in 2020 and various paper awards at prominent industry conferences. He is committed to advancing educational experiences in mechanical engineering through the integration of artificial intelligence and data science concepts into the curriculum.
