Dr. Cheri Deng

Biography

Cheri Deng is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on biomedical ultrasound technology, particularly in understanding the mechanisms involved in ultrasound interactions with biological systems. Professor Deng is dedicated to developing efficient techniques for diagnosing and treating human diseases. Her work includes ultrasound-mediated drug delivery and gene therapy, particularly for cancer treatment, as well as the application of high-intensity focused ultrasound for the ablation of cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation. Additionally, she is involved in quantitative ultrasound imaging, aiming to improve detection methods for pancreatic cancer.
